New Small Wheel Loader Options from Caterpillar
Cat small wheel loaders are now available with a number of new guarding options, a new cab filtration system, a reversing lighting package, and new remote breathers for drive train components. Also, new Performance Series Buckets for small wheel loaders mate with Cat Fusion™ Couplers and deliver productivity improvements of more than 5 percent due to the optimized shape of the buckets. The buckets and each of the new options are designed for some or all of the Cat small wheel loaders—924H, 924Hz, 928Hz and 930H. The new options deliver benefits in a wide variety of applications. Climbing Europe’s tallest structure, London’s 310 metre tall Shard
Specially-adapted Alimak hoists are playing a vital role in one of Europe’s foremost engineering feats, the construction of the Shard in central London. When completed in late 2012, the skyscraper structure with office space at its base and restaurants, a five-star hotel, luxury residences and a viewing gallery on the 72nd floor, will be the tallest in Western Europe at 310 metres. An Alimak Scando 650 twin hoist with extra large cars had to be uniquely engineered to handle the novel design shape of the building, which has already become an iconic landmark on the London skyline. The two Alimak cars travelling on the same mast tower up to a lifting height of 233 meters were given strengthened floors designed with a 5° angle to compensate for the buildings façade, which is inclined at the same angle.
JLG Set to Introduce New Products and Partnerships at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011
JLG Industries, Inc., an Oshkosh Corporation company, will unveil innovative new products and partnerships, including the industry’s first 150-foot boom lift, at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2011, March 22-26 at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Leading the list of new products that JLG will introduce, the 1500SJ is the first straight boom lift that elevates operators to 150 feet requiring only a weight permit for transport. The telescoping jib provides work envelope flexibility and superior horizontal and vertical reach, extending up to 25 feet. In addition, as the largest self-propelled telescopic boom available, the 1500SJ delivers industry-leading terrainability and access to more work with the industry’s best work envelope. As with all Ultra Booms, the 1500SJ delivers dual 1,000/500-pound capacity, three steering modes and advanced systems to assist in safely positioning the platform.

Terex Announces Grand Opening of Manufacturing Facility in China
Shanghai, CHINA – Drummers and dragon dancers dazzled attendees celebrating the official grand opening of the new Terex Aerial Work Platforms (AWP) Changzhou manufacturing facility, located in a business park close to Shanghai, China. The new Terex facility, built to serve as the product development, parts distribution and service centre for China, is approximately 260,000 square feet and is part of Terex AWP’s global expansion plan to produce local products for local markets. The facility offers a massive factory floor designed to employ the lean production methods of the Terex Business System. It also includes a showroom to display finished products and a training area for customers, dealers and team members. The site was also selected for its potential capabilities to become a future Terex Corporation manufacturing campus – to include manufacturing of other Terex business segment products, such as Materials Processing, Cranes or Construction.
Manitou introduces new compact telehandler
Manitou has introduced the MLT 625 compact telehandler. The unit features a lift height of 19 feet, 3 inches (5,867 mm) and a maximum lift capacity of 5,500 pounds (2,495 kg). The MLT 625 has an overall height of 6 feet, 7 inches (2,000 mm) and a width just shy of 6 feet (1,819 mm). The unit has turning radius of 10 feet (3,190 mm) and is powered by a 75 hp turbo-charged Kubota diesel engine coupled with a hydraulic gear pump that results in a flow rate of 24 gallons per minute at a pressure of 3,408 psi.The MLT 625 also has a flexible 2-speed hydrostatic transmission, is equipped with 18-inch agricultural tires and has a ground clerance of 15 inches (378 mm).
Conveyor Shipments Up Almost 10% in 2010
The Conveyor Equipment Manufacturers Association (CEMA) reports that 2010 shipments in North America were up 9.6%. CEMA estimates that shipments totaled $6.642 billion for 2010, an increase of $584 million from 2009 shipments of $6.058 billion. Read the rest of this entry »
Iteco 170210E scissor lift
Italian manufacturer Iteco, now part of Imer introduces 170210E scissor lift. The 170210E scissor lift includes a 3.8 metre by two metre work platform plus two metre slide out deck and a 540kgs lift capacity on the main deck and extension. Four wheel drive with oscillating axle is standard, with non-marking Rough Terrain tyres and almost 90 degree crank angle steering for excellent manoeuvrability.

PG goes CTE
UK based PG Platforms of Rochester in Kent, has selected the CTE Zed 21J truck mounted lift to top its 3.5 tonne fleet. PG Platforms, which runs a fleet of van mounted lifts, says that it conducted exhaustive trials with a number of manufacturers before deciding upon the ZED21.
